According to the official sources, SK Bhagavan’s deteriorated after a heart attack and was taken to the nearby hospital. He was stable at the hospital and doctors said that he will get discharged soon. On the day of his discharge, he had another heart attack and died on 20 February 2023. His death was a great shock to the film industry and his family.
The cause of his death is revealed by his son Jothinder in an interview. However, several celebrities paid him tribute and came to visit him last time. At his death time, his age was 89 years old.

Directing Career and Profession
- According to the sources, Srinivas Krishna Iyengar Bhagavan had an interest in acting and performed in plays for ‘Hirannayya Mitra Mandi’. Later, in the 1956 film Bhagyodaya, he got his start in the film industry as an assistant to Kanagal Prabhakar Shastri.
- After that, he directed his first movie, Sandhya Raga, in 1966, though AC Narasimha Murthy was officially credited with directing it.
- However, the following year, he and AC Narasimha Murthy were credited as co-directors of the 1967 film Rajadurgada Rahasya. When he co-directed Jedara Bale (1968) with Dorai Raj under the name Dorai–Bhagavan, he made his official directorial debut.
- As the first Kannada directors to make films in the James Bond style, they were also the first. After that, they directed numerous films, the majority of which were based on Kannada novels. Their films were exceptionally effective in the film industry.
- Gaalimaatu, Chandanada Gombe, Hosa Belaku, Kasturi Nivasa, Eradu Kanasu, Bayaludaari, Benkiya Bale, Jeevana Chaitra, and others are among the films. He has also collaborated with actors Lakshmi, Anant Nag, and others.
